Harborough Rail Users AGM, 24th November 2022

Harborough Rail Users held their Annual General Meeting on Thursday 24th November 2022, online on Zoom. 
Steve Jones was re-elected as Chair, and the other officers and Committee were elected for the forthcoming year.  The priorities for the group were confirmed; these are:

• The train service and the continuing excessive disruption caused by strikes;
• Rolling stock, including shorter trains leading to some overcrowding;
• The continuing progress with electrification;
• Market Harborough Station, including the anticipated further revision of the layout of the forecourt and the present inadequacy of short-stay car parking;
• Service connectivity.  This builds on the watching brief HRU has held regarding the possible consideration by England’s Economic Heartland of reopening the Northampton line.  We shall also keep an interest in the development of East-West Rail (Oxford – Milton Keynes - Cambridge via interchange at Bedford), and we seek improvements to longer-distance services north to Leeds and Manchester.​
